Aquaplane Performance Equipment for classic fords

Aquaplane Performance

Classic Ford twin carb inlet manifold

Founded in the mid-1950s, Aquaplane first specialised in the manufacture and supply of tuning equipment for Ford and BMC engines.
Aquaplane’s founder, Harmer Copeman, had significant success racing motor boats on Oulton Broad; tuning Ford side valve engines to great advantage. The company grew with the increasing interest in Ford ‘specials’ – many used for trials and racing – achieving further recognition when Morgan decided to fit their 4/4 Series II competition model with the 1172 cc Ford engine, equipped with an Aquaplane head and twin SUs as standard.

By the 1960s the biggest market for tuning equipment was for saloon cars including the Ford 100E Anglia, Prefect and Popular and later the 105E Anglia – with Aquaplane advertising itself as “Manufacturers of the largest selection of Performance equipment for Ford cars in the World”.

There are still many enthusiasts for the well-engineered products now supplied from Malvern and much of the range remains in production today. Current products include performance valve springs, sports camshaft, cylinder heads, aluminium flywheels, high volume oil pump, inlet and exhaust manifolds plus many more period tuning parts and accessories.
